Itinerary Overview

  1. Arrival in Kathmandu: The trek begins with a briefing in Kathmandu, followed by a sightseeing tour of the city's UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
  2. Flight to Nepalgunj: A short flight takes you to Nepalgunj, a city near the Indian border, known for its hot climate and vibrant local culture.
  3. Flight to Juphal and Trek to Dunai: From Nepalgunj, a flight to Juphal marks the start of the trek. The journey begins by trekking to Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpo.
  4. Exploring Shey Phoksundo National Park: The trek progresses through the Shey Phoksundo National Park, home to the breathtaking Shey Phoksundo Lake and various endangered species like snow leopards.
  5. High Pass Crossings: The route includes crossing several high passes, such as the Kang La Pass (5,360m) and Saldang La Pass (5,160m), offering spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
  6. Shey Gompa and Crystal Mountain: A key highlight is visiting Shey Gompa, an ancient monastery near the sacred Crystal Mountain, which is significant in the local spiritual practices.

Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley.

In the morning, after breakfast, you will be taken for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley with guide by van or car. You can visit the centre of pilgrimage Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, very ancient and essentially enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage sites, also the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Visit Patan, the city of fine arts with Durbar Square full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments. On a journey back to the hotel, you can explore the local areas, gullies, and lifestyle. Fly Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (150m,50min)

The flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj is an required segment for trekkers embarking on the Dolpo trek, where it provides a rapid and comfortable connection between Nepal's capital and the southwestern plains. This 50-minute flight covers around 367 kilometers and offers breathtaking aerial views of Nepal's various landscapes, from the lush Terai plains to the spectacular Himalayan foothills. Nepalgunj, located at a height of 150 meters, acts as a transit point for trekkers to get back and prepare for their trip to Juphal, the gateway to Dolpo.
